Sennheiser is known for its high-quality sound equipment, which usually justifies the high price. The accumulated experience, traditional German meticulousness, and impressive material and technical capabilities are the factors that make it possible to produce the profile market equipment of exceptional quality under this recognizable brand.

The Sennheiser PC 373D is not just another model in the endless lineup of gaming headsets. The manufacturer has very carefully developed this device. The black and red blur the line between simplicity and elegance. The velvety cushions and distinctive headband create a high-end headphone look, whereas the black plastic frame looks humble enough to fit into an interior filled with all kinds of gaming accessories.

After opening the box, you’ll see a minimum set of accessories. It contains only the most basic items, allowing you to strictly use the headphones for their intended purpose: a USB-mini-USB cable; 1.8-meter long audio cable with an integrated sound card (not to be conflated with remote control), instructions for using the device, warranty card.

4. Design & Ergonomy

The Sennheiser PC 373D has cups partially open. The manufacturer has chosen to favor lightness, flexibility, and comfort at the price of a plastic design that is not necessarily ultra-strong. It’s a success, and the quality of the finishes is correct, but you can still see some assembly traces.

Sennheiser’s PC gaming headset 373D benefits from very soft, thick, and wide “velvet” cushions, both on the headband and the earpieces. The headset rests naturally on the head, with well-distributed pressure points.

Design-wise, this model is a minimal evolution of an older and less evolved headset (Sennheiser PC 363D), but which, for the same price, has the advantage of offering a dual USB and mini-jack connection. The differences between PC 373D & PC 363D are minimal and even purely aesthetic.

The previous generation of Sennheiser headphones was able to work on Windows PCs, in analog or via the dedicated sound card, and on several alternative platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, Linux, or Mac consoles, as well as smartphones and tablets. With the PC 373D, you have to buy the optional mini-jack cable, which is quite a major shortcoming and not extremely convenient for the user. The discomfort found in the GSP350 gaming headset due to overtightening is not present here, allowing this model to be forgotten, even after long hours of play.

On the right earcup, an extra-wide button controls the volume. It has the advantage of being easy to find and operate, although the GSP 350’s volume control is preferred; on the left side is the microphone, which can be muted when raised up. To activate the Dolby surround sound, you only need to press a button.

5. Technology

PC 373D’s software is straightforward. The interface is very condensed, and the customization options are reduced to a minimum. The software part is, once again, identical to the GSP350’s. The interface is discreet and easy to manage but lacks options for adjusting the settings. For example, the equalizer offers only four presets, the neutral being the only one of interest. The other two options in the software are whether or not to activate the attenuation of ambient noise and a 4-step adjustment of the microphone return in the ears.

Dolby Surround 7.1 sound effects are great but not as accurate as of the Logitech G533 with DTS 7.1 technology. The PC 373D works well, but it makes the recorded sound too compressed.

6. Microphone

Being able to communicate comfortably with teammates is almost as important as hearing the sounds in the game, and the 373D uses one of the best microphones we’ve ever seen. The noise-canceling microphone is up to a high-standard and proved to be as reliable in speaking with relatives as it was at communicating with your friends when playing online multiplayer games.

7. Sound Quality

5/5

The Sennheiser PC 373D is a universal gaming headset. You can use it for games of different genres. It performs well when you’re immersed in intense action games and shooters. It also impresses with its acoustic transmission in games built around hand-to-hand combat.

The Sennheiser PC 373D also does not differ from its predecessors in terms of sound performance. It symbolizes the manufacturer’s philosophy of retaining the sound vision of its traditional headphones, and it does so well. The sound quality is excellent, just like we expected from Sennheiser. The sound is characterized by absolute balance – none of the frequencies dominate the others, and that’s what it’s all about.

If you don’t like deep bass, the PC 373D offers relatively accurate bass that naturally finds its place and doesn’t cause any masking effects. Rest assured, though, the bass is present enough to support the stage and provide warmth. Although the headphones are open and therefore airier than closed headphones, the PC 373D still delivers true width and sound depth.

Overall, the Sennheiser PC 373D gaming headphones offer gaming-oriented audio quality. However, the 7.1 multi-channel surround sound isn’t the best, as it only creates a reverb effect that places you inside a virtual space. Note also that you can connect the Sennheiser PC 373D to the console via USB, but the output level will not be enough, and the sound will be quieter than usual.

8. Conclusion

4.4/5
4.4/5

The PC 373D is a safe bet, focusing on comfort, sound quality, and microphone kit. We have here an excellent headset for playing, comfortable, that sounds good, and shows a good quality of craftsmanship. As mentioned, these gaming headset supports Dolby Surround Sound 7.1 technology. The sound effects it produces are decent. It is true, though, that you can find better implementations on the market and much less money.

Even though the manufacturer positions the PC 373D as a gaming headset for personal computers, you can connect it to other game consoles by simply connecting the headphones to the USB port of the set-top box. Needless to say, in this case, there will be certain restrictions that you don’t have when gaming on PC. For example, no console supports Sennheiser branded software. Accordingly, you will have to forget about configuring the equalizer or microphone.
