1. Spotify Interface

For people who are already subscribed to Tidal, if you want to use Spotify, then its interface will not cause any issues. The colors, layout, and advanced features like interaction with the audio library are quite similar. However, the commonalities might be deceiving because Spotify opens a completely new window into the universe of music and is friendlier to you and your musical interests.

Spotify’s home screen has a user-friendly interface. Literally, from the first hour of use, I noticed that the algorithm used by Spotify adapted effectively to my taste and recommended substitute content, which I found really interesting. The content on Spotify is tailored to my listening history and the music that I listened to over and over again. The app also generates playlists, radio stations, and tracks of musicians, which are a close match to my taste.

By the end of the first day of use, I noticed that Spotify’s home screen was accurately tailored to my music interests. In my opinion, even you can click randomly on any recommended track, and you are bound to come across something that will fascinate you. This is quite impressive!

2. Music Recommendations & Features

If you want to listen to an artist on Tidal, most possibly, you have to go to your browser to google its detail. On the other hand, if you use Spotify, the chances of this happening are nearly zero because they have already compiled your interest.

The feature of the artist’s card enables you to read from a page of well-compiled biography of the artist, find links to various buzzes, merch, and upcoming events. You will be surprised to know that Spotify also tells you the locations in the world where this track is played the most, as well as artists’ followers and auditions on Spotify. Considering this, the functionality of Tidal seems very inadequate.

3. Sound Quality

As far as the sound quality is concerned, Spotify does not provide high-resolution (high-res) files and limits itself to AAC 256 kbps, where knowledgeable audiophiles will start to burn up. If the sound quality is not a big matter of concern for you and you calmly move away from the advertising banners which you are shown in between, then the good news is that Spotify will be free for you, but however you will not be able to experience a stream higher than AAC 128 kb/s.

Talking about it more precisely, since Spotify does not provide any stream without compression, the avid music lovers tend to choose Tidal, since it guarantees that if you are using Hi-Fi tariff, the quality that you will experience would not be less than that of a CD. So, considering this aspect, it is practically impossible for Spotify to contest this against Tidal.

4. Standard Music, Not Hi-Res Audio

But if you think you are a regular lover of music and not an avid audiophile, then Spotify is the best for your needs. It literally builds itself on top of your interests in music. Spotify ensures seamlessness in your favorite music streaming and to discover new tracks and artists. If it does not concern you that the music that you are listening to comes with unavoidable losses in quality, in my opinion, Spotify is more than perfect for you. It is a matter of time till high-res music is provided on Spotify. In that case, Tidal is more likely to perish.
