JBL T450BT On-ear Headphones Review
1. Overview – not finished
Type: Over-ear Noise Cancelling Headphones | Bluetooth: 4.0 | Battery: 30 Hours | Charging: 4 Hours | Drivers: Dynamic | Drivers-Size: 45 mm | Weight: 385g
The JBL T450BT is an affordable wireless headphone. It’s all in the JBL spirit: distinctive design and bass-driven sound. This headset can also be used as a headphone, but that is not its strong point. However, the combination of price and quality is certainly spot on.
This model is not new, but it is still relevant for those who need wireless over-ear headphones without a lot of hassle and at a reasonable price. With discounts, you can even find them for a few dollars.
The JBL T450BT comes with the following items: the headphones themselves, a USB-MicroUSB charging cable and documentation.
Available in three colors: black white and blue, the JBL T450BT headphones stand out with their very pure colors, just like the Sennheiser HD 4.50 or Philips Bass SHB3075BK, which should suit you if you are looking for a stylish model that can fit n ‘ any dress style. It is indeed a very nice product that is particularly highlighted by the logo’s mirror effect integrated on the headphones. Once again, it proves that JBL knows how to take care of the smallest details of the devices it designs.
The BL T450BT is an on-the-ear headphone, and this form factor has advantages and disadvantages. It is lightweight and foldable. They can be worn comfortably around the neck (with the cups turned), in a bag (fully folded), or in a large jacket pocket.
However, these earphones are not very comfortable to wear for long periods. The headband is small, there is no soft “padding” on top, and the downward force is quite noticeable. Most people can’t listen to these headphones for more than an hour or two without taking them off. But on the other hand, you can’t run with them.
The controls on this model are button-operated, functional, and easy to understand and remember. There are four buttons, all located at the right end of the cup.
- The center button pause/start music and answer/ends phone calls
- Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to turn on and off the headphones.
- +/- Press and hold – changes the song.
In terms of overall quality, JBL T450BT is satisfactory, although it is not exceptional in itself either. Two primary materials were used, starting with a standard plastic that is relatively strong because it is thick. The second material, which concerns the headphones, is very basic imitation leather, which will still fulfill its main mission, ensuring your comfort.
The JBL T450BT Wireless Headset uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to unencrypted, high-resolution audio sources outside. However, a stable connection is possible within a standard range of 10 meters. There is no way to connect via an audio cable or 3.5 mm mini-jack.
While some Bluetooth devices can be intimidating because they can sometimes be very complicated to pair with a device, with T450BT, you don’t have to worry.
Pairing: Turn on the headset, search and connect to the headset from among the Bluetooth devices available on your phone (tablet, laptop, etc.). Only one source is supported for simultaneous connection. In case of problems, they can be addressed and resolved in the general manual. After unpacking your JBL T450BT headphones, it will take no more than thirty seconds to connect your headphones to your music player.
Interestingly, everything has been designed to use your device intuitively, given very few buttons, each of which has a well-defined function. Increase or decrease the sound, or even change the piece of music. Everything is done very naturally via the buttons integrated into the portable Bluetooth headset.
The JBL T450BT Bluetooth Headset can work for up to 11 hours on a single charge, depending on the manufacturer. On average use, the actual battery life is approximately 8 to 9 hours. However, after a year or two of active use, battery life diminishes to about 4-5 hours. To fully charge the headphones, the headphones require about 2 hours of charging.
The headset has two microphones. The sound is not bad and the bass is especially powerful. These headphones are perfect for listening to electronic music. It comes with a cable with microphone for cable connection. As the microphone is not the most interesting element here, it only makes sense to use it in a quiet place. That way, the interlocutor can hear and understand what you have to say. In traffic or on the street, the recording quality is unbearable.
If we had to retain only one advantage offered by these JBL T450BT headphones, it would undoubtedly be the sound quality it provides despite what its low price might suggest. This one is certainly not perfect, but it is very satisfactory since it offers an good balance between bass and treble. The same bass adapts to your music tracks to enhance them without having to make any adjustments whatsoever.
Overall, the sound is quite good. As a whole, the sound can be described as dark and muffled. It seems that JBL has made an effort to emphasize the low end. They seem to be geared towards younger people and therefore electronic music lovers. The headphones are quite good for this genre, but the bass does not impress, it lacks energy and bounce. All in all, the sound is not very clear and a bit muddy. Another slight disappointment is that the headphones isolate little from the surrounding noise, which could spoil your enjoyment; therefore, you’re better off listening to music at home.
We can only say of this JBL T450BT headset that it is overall satisfactory, especially since its price is ultra-competitive. It’s not flawless, as it certainly suffers from a few imperfections. However, it makes up for it on other points, and importantly, the sound quality is close to perfect. Concretely, this model is most likely to please you unless you are a music professional looking for the best in this category.
