We've compiled a List of Best Wireless In-ear Headphones in 2020

Audeze, one of the most prestigious brands of high-end hi-fi headphones, dived in March 2018 into the gaming industry with a new top-tier gaming headset for high-caliber players. The event was of enormous surprise and truly intriguing; Not only because of the blending of an elitist brand like Audeze with the medium of gaming, but also for the expectations which had arisen by the upcoming of an alluring pair of gaming headsets and the unreal promises they’ve made.

Ergonomics

It doesn’t take long to realize the majesty of Audeze Mobius sound once donning them on your ears. As one of the best gaming headset, the audio quality is the second most intriguing aspect after the immersive soundscape generated by the planar magnetic drivers and Waves Nx technology for 3D audio immersiveness.

Not only does the 100mm planar magnetic drivers emulate the most authentic immersive cinematic experiences, they also achieve an admirable level of precision and responsiveness. The complexity of the captivating, imacculate surround sound with the dramatic and vivid sounds filled with details make it almost impossible to take them off your head. The experience is truly addictive.

Sony WI-1000X

Our Top Pick: Sony Wireless In-ear Headphones

Why we like it:

Sony’s WI-1000X with an over the neck design is a top-quality headphone that’s not completely wire-free as the WF-1000XM3, but does carry more value in different areas while remaining less expensive. At the same time, these wireless in-ear headphone are marked as direct competitor of the QuietControl 30 from Bose.

The two over-the-neck earphones are similarly priced, both include a very effective noise reduction function and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, but what sets them apart is: for Bose the multipoint connection, and for Sony the various audio codecs that allow hi-res wireless audio definition. Note that, in order to benefit from Sony’s better wireless audio transmission, your device should be compatible with: AAC, aptX, aptX HD and LDAC.

Similarly to Bose’s StayHear+ eartips, aside the basic silicone eartips that Sony included, the presence of three new pairs of eartips that are ingeniously marketed as „Triple Comfort”, caught our interest. These ensure a secure fit inside the ears and remain comfortable over the whole duration.

Another great addition that Sony’s WI-1000X has over the QC20 is the independence from the source of connecivity. When the battery runs out, you plug the wired cable from Sony into your headphone and continue to listen to music. With Bose’s QuietComfort 20 that’s not possible.

Verdict

In the end, the in-ear wireless headphones Sony WI-1000X are a solid alternative to the QuietComfort QC20, both are similar in terms of quality and only differ in minor aspects. Sony’s sound quality is extraordinary, offering plenty of clarity, striking basses, full of energy and precision. It’s selling price is $299, though you can get a great deal by buying the WI-1000X when is on sale for $200.

Key Features

Beats by Dre Beats X

Excellent Budget Wireless In-Ear Headphones for Iphone Users

Why we like it:

An excellent pair of in-ears, sleek and simple that won’t cost you a fortune is the Beats X. The American brand delivers these wireless in-ears in two colours, both versions look elegant, sound incredible and include Apple’s W1 chip that provides one of the most intuitive setup and automatic wireless pairing with other iOs devices.

Their classic look and excellent manufacturing quality are favoured by anyone who fancies simplicity. The 8 hours battery isn’t the most enduring we’ve seen, though you still get plenty of time to listen to music. The BeatsX adopts a warm sound signature that has a strong inclination to the lower end of the spectrum – emphasized bass, low-mids that sound a bit muffled, but then again the range between 2k-3k is slightly reinforced to ensure a good intelligibility of the vocals putting them to the forefront. To cut to the chase, the audio experience is truly appealing, the colorful sound reproduction still conveys enough clarity but also an airy, roomy sound scene.

The good latency which measures around 150 milliseconds, and assembly quality turns this over-the-neck wireless in-ears into a somewhat versatile headphones. You can use them during low-intensity sport activities or for watching videos. They fit comfortably and secured in your ears and the cable doesn’t show signs of weakness – Note that the headphone doesn’t disclose any IP protection standard, thus the Beats by Dre X aren’t specifically designed for sport.

Verdict

In short, the Beats X earphones by Dre are a great pair of wireless in-ears that although presents various minor issues, complements with good quality sound, seamless user experience among iOS users and fair pricing that makes these Beats not appear astronomically expensive but rather cheap.

Bose QuietControl 30

Best Over Neck Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones with ANC

Why we like it:

This pair of over-the-neck wireless in-ear headphones with active noise cancellation is displayed as the successor of QuietComfort 20, and while they aren’t the most affordable headphones on the market, they’re clearly among the best wireless in-ear headphones you can get.

Just like the latest Bose Bluetooth headphones, the Bluetooth 4.1 technology offers quick pairing and multipoint connection allowing the QC 30 to pair wirelessly to two sources at the same time. The user’s convenience is highly improved by the presence of such feature, but Bose takes things up a notch by reworking the design and shape to achieve a much desired result, more comfort over the duration of wearing.

With the StayHear+ tips and the small rubber wing, the in-ears maintain proper seal and good, comfortable grip on your ears.

It’s faithful and precise sound reproduction is characteristic to Bose sound signature, similar quality found in the high-end over-ear headphone QuietComfort 35 II. Although the wireless latency suffers a bit measuring a delay of 280 milliseconds between sound and image, there’s nothing stopping us from enjoying the music that’s delivered with excellent transparency. The natural sound produced by the Bose QC 30, as well as the spacious stereophony and rigorous basses culminate in a stellar musical experience that’s hard to attain by other noise-cancelling wireless in-ears.

Verdict

Overall, the whole experience provided by the QC30 was fantastic, we’ve noticed the slight improvements in terms of comfort and audio performance. The in-ears position themselves as high-end headphones and offer a premium experience in all sectors, but doesn’t manage to outperform the Bose QuietComfort 20 in terms of noise reduction. The reliance on wireless connection is also a minor downfall, so make sure the battery is charged up.
