Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Review

The Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro are a closed-back studio headphones that won’t take long to convince you of its many strengths. The comfort and build is impeccable, sound is balanced to a high degree with many clear frequencies.

At the sound of the good: an impressive frequency response that covers correctly and neutrally the entire spectrum of the audible, a very good spatialization, faithfully restored bass, slightly valued (which is rather pleasant question of taste), precise and crystalline medium and treble, no aggressiveness, only good! I do not see better at this price.

In terms of comfort, it is very good too: its lightness, its synthetic velvet pads (very soft, and do not heat the ears even after several hours), and its foam hoop allow long and pleasant hours of use! Big up on the fact that the pad and the foam of the arch are exchangeable!

The sound is fantastic, very balanced, truly sensational for a closed headphone. The comfort is very good, the upholstery is not made of faux leather (which becomes sticky over time and causes perspiration) but of a “fabric-like” material, which is very pleasant on the skin, so that the sweating is limited.

In winter, virtually no sweating! The ear-enclosing construction does not create any unpleasant pressure on the ears. The weight is relatively low (290 g). You can wear it for hours without getting uncomfortable.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Audio-Technica ATH-M20x

The only drawback I can find is that the cable can not be replaced. The upholstery of the earpiece and the holder are interchangeable, unfortunately, a cable break in this case would lead directly out. Therefore you have to buy another piece.

For some, it might sound like a lot of money, but I can only highly recommend these headphones. They are more of a purchase for life, as long as you take care of them properly.

  • Sturdy and lightweight
  • Effective entry-level gear for monitoring
  • The bass feels slightly recessed

Conclusion

Despite the low price, the ATH-M20x comes up with neutral and professional sound: DJ set, interception on the editing suite, monitoring, fast project mix – everything is possible. The headset concentrates on its sound characteristics without equipment frills.
